Dear Faithful Friends & Supporters,

Randolph C. Robinson, MD, DDS, FAACS, and his wife, Ginger H. Robinson, Face the Challenge, Inc. Co-Founders, returned to Saigon/Hcmc, Vietnam, October 22-November 3. This trip was Dr. Robinson's 28th to Vietnam (since 1994) and Mrs. Robinson's 16th (since 1996). Once again, Dr. Robinson taught the surgical staffs at two hospitals through:

  • Nearly 20 facial surgery patient consultations.
  • Their presence during six surgeries in the operating rooms (congenital deformities, facial injuries, biopsies/mass removals, andorthognathic [ jaw] surgeries).
  • Giving three well-attended lectures (twice) on the requested topics of bone grafting, treatment of forehead fractures, and orthognathic surgery using 3D virtual planning.
  • Donating five texts at each hospital, including on:
    • (1-2) The Life and Work of Paul L. Tessier, MD*: The World's Father of Craniofacial Surgery,
    • (3) Craniofacial Trauma,
    • (4) Dental Implant Surgery, and
    • (5) Complications of Dental Implant Surgery.

* Dr. Robinson was invited by Dr. Tessier and did a one-year Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship with him in Paris, France.

This trip had meaningful times of closeness and getting to know the surgeons, anesthesia teams, and nurses personally unlike ever before. It was especially rewarding to see the eagerness of the young surgeons to learn and extend their own kindness toward the patients. Eleven out of 12 of the surgeons were new since 2017 at the OMFH alone. And we saw a similar pattern at the NHOS.

Words of Gratitude

"It is our pleasure to have you here. We found the lectures very helpful and practical. I 'extremely appreciate' what you have done, not only to help us to broaden our horizon, but also improve our skills. I look forward to your next visit!"
- Dr. Trong Thao Le, Director, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Odonto Maxillo Facial Hospital (OMFH), Saigon District 1

"Thanks a lot for your helping at my hospital. That week is really useful for us. I enjoyed the time in the OR that Professor Robinson instructed me. Three lectures were really exciting. I can't express how much I admire you and Dr. Robinson. See you next year!"
- Dr. Duong Minh Tung, Facial Surgeon, from Cái Bè, OMFH

"I wear my Face the Challenge cap whenever I go on a hospital mission to the Provinces (of Vietnam)."
- Dr. Trần Nhặt Tân, from Gia Lai, NHOS Facial Surgeon

"I thank you very much for your kindness to help poor people in my country. I hope you will give your greatness to people all over the world. You are the ones I should follow. I hope I can follow in your steps."
- Dr. Bùi Quang Dại, Facial Surgeon, from Dắc Lắk, National Hospital of Odonto Somatology (NHOS), Cholon District 5

Thank you for your continued support to make these humanitarian surgical missions possible. "Be His hands and touch the needy."

In Him, Our Health and Hope,

Randy and Ginger, along with our Boards and Teams
